Hand Made Art Earrings     The Powerful Pillars of Opposing Forces, Boaz & Jachin

Materials: Brass, Mason-dyed concrete, sterling silver / One of a Kind

Traced back to ancient civilizations, twin pillars have been used as symbols representing the equilibrium of two opposing forces, strength and wisdom. For this piece, two pillars are made into earrings. They represent Boaz and Jachin, the pillars that stood at the entrance of King Solomon’s temple in the Biblical account (2 Chronicles 3:17).

Boaz on the left in Hebrew means power or might, symbolizing strength. Jachin on the right means firm, upright and stable, symbolizing intellect and reason. When a person passes between the pillars they awaken to the harmony of life, transcending the duality, and are imparted with wisdom.  Thus, the wearer of these earrings may be the wiser for this experience.

Additional symbolism attributed to the pillars is also depicted in the earrings. Boaz, the left earring pillar, has a black column symbolizing the feminine mysterious or unknown. The terrestrial or earth globe on top of the Boaz column symbolizes the earthly man.  Jachin, the right earring pillar, is associated with the masculine intellect or light of reason. The celestial globe toping this column symbolizes the light or divine man.  When the two pillars find equilibrium, it is said to generate a third pillar in the middle, wisdom, which esoterically represents humanity.
